This is the first blog of Prodigi Kids, and we are excited to kick it off! I’d like to first thank everyone who has helped make this dream a reality. They say it takes a village to raise a child, and the same is true for a startup.
How did the idea for Adi happen? I didn’t plan it…It just sort of happened one day, and that single moment changed the course of my life.
It all started in 2008 when my husband and I were eating dinner out with our 18 month old daughter. After putting her in a highchair, I put a self-adhesive placemat on the tabletop and placed small pieces of spaghetti and meatballs, red sauce, and peas on it. We were all happily enjoying the start of our meal until my curious toddler figured out how to pull the placemat off the table. Within a second, she hurled it in the air like a frisbee, and the food went flying everywhere. Out of the corner of my eye, I saw it land on the head and shoulder of a man seated at the table behind us. His nice, white dress shirt was covered in red sauce. Spaghetti dangled from his head…I was mortified and frustrated. In that moment, I thought to myself, “There’s got to be a better way!”
I was determined to invent something that worked better than anything else on the market and solve the problem of flying plates and food once and for all. After all, mealtime with family should be fun.
